When and where is monumental yoga?
Monumental Yoga takes place on the summer solstice – June 21 – on Monument Circle in the heart of downtown Indy. The first Monumental Yoga took place on June 21, 2013.
Is there bike parking?
Yes, we provide free, secure bike parking through IndyCog. Bike parking will be located near the south spoke of the Circle. There are also several Pacers Bikeshare stations nearby: on Monument Circle, at Washington and Meridian Streets, at City Market and at the City County Building.
Where do I park my car?
There are several garages near Monument Circle: Sheraton Hotel Garage (55 W. Ohio St.); Chase Tower Garage (120 N. Pennsylvania St.); Express Park Garage (20 N. Pennsylvania St.); Market Tower Garage (139 N. Illinois St.).
Can I bring the kids?
Please do! There is a family yoga section for kids ages six and older. Family Yoga will take place in front of the Emmis building on the southwest quadrant of the circle. Parents must be present with their kids in the family yoga section.
What is the yoga class style?
It is an all-levels vinyasa class – postures flowing together. One of our goals is to make yoga accessible to everyone.
What does it cost?
This event is free or by-donation. The net proceeds support Indy Yoga Movement, a local non-profit providing yoga and mindfulness to youth in Indianapolis area schools. We encourage attendees to donate any amount they can via our Eventbrite.
Who benefits from the donations?
Indy Yoga Movement is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit working through schools and organizations to empower youth to overcome challenges and lead mindful, purposeful and healthy lives through the development of life skills using yoga, mindfulness and other awareness practices. All donations support their school based programming.
What should I bring to monumental yoga?
Please bring your own yoga mat and water. If you have a dark colored yoga mat, we highly recommend bringing mat towel (available at most local yoga studios and lululemon in the Fashion Mall). The mat will be positioned in the sunlight and can become very hot. You may also want to bring a small hand towel and sunscreen.

Who can be a sponsor?
Anyone! We have three sponsor levels and welcome corporations, local businesses and organizations, and yoga studios.

Volunteers and studios can check in at our Monumental Yoga Information Booth located on the north spoke of Monument Circle, near the northeast corner of North Meridian Street.
Who started Monumental Yoga?
The Athenaeum Foundation‘s founding principles – “Sound Mind in a Sound Body” – led its president, Cassie Stockamp, to create Monumental Yoga. Her goal? To bring the Indy yoga community together and to offer a free class to the community!
